Senior Commodity Manager

Our client, a global leader providing a broad array of clinical diagnostics and life science research products, has an opportunity with excellent growth potentials for a Senior Commodity Manager. A competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k is offered.
This position is responsible for managing the acquisition of indirect product and services through initiating RFP to source and identify quality suppliers, negotiating high dollar volume contracts and managing supplier relationships across multiple administrative locations and manufacturing plants in order to optimize supply chain efficiency. A strong background in IT or Logistics is required.

Responsibilities include:
Source suppliers for indirect products and services using the RFP process.
Negotiate large volume supplier agreements.
Identify value improvement opportunities within assigned commodities.
Implement procurement strategies that help achieve Global Supply Chain goals.
Manage supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, capacity management and cost/quality improvements for blood, chemical, and plasma suppliers.
Conduct supplier reviews, generate and deliver supplier performance report cards and communicate the outcome to the supplier and internal stakeholders.
Assist in implementation of regional strategies.
Assess supply chain risks and work with Management to develop mitigation plans.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Business, Procurement or Supply Chain Management, or related discipline. MBA preferred.
15+ years experience, a strong background in sourcing and commodity management categories of IT or Logistics, and proven leadership experience is required.
Experience sourcing vendors through an RFP process and negotiating vendor contracts.
Act as a leader and project manager for various supply chain initiatives, RFPs, and supply optimization projects. Must be able to work independently with no supervision.
Coursework towards CPM and/or CPIM certification is preferred.
Full knowledge and application of the principles and theories of procurement and supply chain.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Strong oral and written communication, confident negotiator as well as strong multitasking and organizational skills.
This position requires 25% international and domestic travel.
