Our client, a well- known supplier of tools with a strong presence in the food service distribution market and tool products which are sold into hardware and paint stores, contractor and industrial supply houses etc. is seeking a Logistics Analyst to join their team. He/she will support the Logistics Manager. The Logistics Analyst will perform various functions utilizing statistical analyses and strategies to devise optimal logistics solutions in creating a more productive, cost-effective and profitable enterprise. They will also aid in implementing the solutions.
Responsibilities include, and are not limited to:
Coordination of outbound product shipment, including sales orders, transfers, trade shows, etc. Working with Purchasing Manager, assist in the inbound scheduling of Containers. Execute day-to-day processes to ensure proper shipping documents (Commercial Invoices, BOL). Review and audit freight bills for accuracy and approve for payment. Work with Manager to understand transportation agreements and provide analytical skills to seek improvements in cost and time in transit. Conduct data analysis of both inbound and outbound transportation and develop baseline and metrics across various segments. Resolution of transportation related issues and liaising with customer services and purchasing including tracking and tracing, lost and damage claims.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
2-4 years of experience in transportation, logistics or supply chain role;
Strong financial acumen the ability to utilize fundamental concepts to provide relevant information or decision-making;
Must be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and present technical information clearly and succinctly across a variety of communication settings and audience;
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access);
Proficiency in logistics software (WMS, TMS);
Creative thinking ability: Can demonstrate originality and imagination in thinking while developing a solution to a problem;
Customer service skills: customer focused must think and act from customer perspective;
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively;
Must be highly organized and able to multi-task with a clear bias for action and a sense of urgency on priorities;
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills: Be able to clarify and resolve complex business issues by breaking them down into meaningful components to determine root cause, and to redesign internal and external business processes where necessary. Approach problems systematically and develop scalable solutions;
Strong attention to detail;
Must be able to handle high pressure and adverse situations with composure. Must have resilience and perseverance in the face of constraints; and
Must be able to work well with others in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Supply Chain or logistics field preferred.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Functional Responsibility :
Responsible for managing route activities such as invoicing, electronic bills, transportation claims processing and shipment tracing;
Support vendor/business partner relationships;
Execute day to day processes and perform data management applying a combination of data mining, data modeling, and data analysis; cost/benefit analysis and/or problem analysis;
Undertake ad-hoc queries and maintain reports from a variety of resources as specific to department or organizational needs to support the business;
Responsible for conducting analysis and creating reports of weekly and monthly KPIs and forecasts;
Responsible for auditing transportation accessorial charges by carrier and customer;
Correct freight settlement documents to ensure the proper accruing of freight on a daily basis;
Clearly communicate to senior leaders (both internal and external), vendors and customers;
Ensure WMS Transportation module is configured properly to support outbound shipments;
Ensure WMS supports proper documentation for export shipments;
Ensure all shipments are interfaced to host properly;
Coordinate vendor inbound shipments with purchasing / broker and receiving department; and
Evaluate carriers for service and cost.
Professional Improvement and other developments:
Evaluate various Transportation groups/associations and select one for membership.
Attend online industry related seminars that support education of transportation and logistics.
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Company and perform other duties as assigned.
Health and Safety: (Applied to all duties and functions):
Support the Company to maintain a safe working environment.
Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Company health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standards.
Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
Position is full time. Office hours are generally 7: 00am 4:00 pm, Monday Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work, as needed.
