Description:Essential Functions: Position will prepare and develops One Line and Schematic diagrams for electric substation construction prints. Orders material for Substation projects; Knows and utilizes standards for various types of protective relaying. Performs, develops, and maintains relay settings and coordinates fuse/relay curves & settings. Position utilizes various software tools for fault studies, ASPEN, Access, etc. Work closely with other design team members, including Project Lead Engineer, to coordinate overall design package.General Purpose Position develops engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Client's generation, transmission, distribution, and telecommunication facilities. Skills/Competencies * Analysis and design skills involving application of engineering methods to design, develop, modify, and evaluate systems, processes, or facilities to support Client objectives. * Project management and leadership skills including ability to work as a team member and to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments. * Communication and interpersonal skills involving ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations. Ability to communicate professionally and with courtesy to Clients is required. * Use PC and automated tools. * Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, plus at least eight years of experience in the Utility industry. Title and salary will be based on experience and other qualifications. Positions require registration as Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and the ability to get registered in other states as required. Interpersonal skills in working in a team environment required. High level PC skills and knowledge of common Protection, Relay and Control tools, plus demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Must have good driving record and valid Texas driver's license. Overall Contribution Performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects. May also support procurement and construction phases or projects with engineering knowledge and experience. Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering. Engineering Reports are often a work product. Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures. All engineering disciplines are included in this Job Family. Qualifications Requires Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering or equivalent, increasing work experience and technical expertise required to progress, professional licensure encouraged.
