Description:Buyer/Planner IIIPurchases goods and/or services in line with the commodity acquisition strategy and the planning schedule. Gathers quotations, collects and analyses bids and makes recommendations for supplier selection. Ensures supplier performance with respect to cost, quality, delivery and compliance. Interacts with various internal and external stakeholders to understand and define requirements and provide solutions for procurement needs Duties and Responsibilities: Manage all purchasing activities including but not limited to: o Generating RFPs/quotes o Performing cost and price analysis o Quote and invoice reconciliation, RMAs etc. o Place POs and process incoming expense requisitions. Perform value engineering analysis for goods and services. Manage contract negotiation efforts and drives total cost reduction across assigned commodities. Manage the cost, quality and delivery of assigned commodities. Implement process improvement and transaction reduction effort. Conduct supplier quality and business assessments to mitigate risk and improve performance. Develops plans to free up supplier capacity and improve lead times. Participates in all cross-functional efforts that involve mutual stakeholders. Collects requirements to provide required purchasing support. Draft the Statement of Work for RFPs/Quotes/Contracts. Select appropriate vendor(s) for assigned product lines. Maintain effective and proper relations with suppliers or their representatives. Education and Experience: BS/BA degree preferred or equivalent work experience is desired. APICS certification or working toward same. 7-10 years of purchasing experience with 5 years in purchasing. Prior work in a medical device company preferred. Prior work with ERP systems required ? JDE preferred. Familiarity with the RFX process, planning techniques, contract law, terms and conditions. Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Good PC skills including Windows, Outlook and MS Office. The ideal Candidate: Senior Buying (and Planning preferred) Experience Demonstrated ability to handle complex procurement situations Provides team leadership (able to mentor other buyers) Constantly thinking ahead to avoid pitfalls or serious supply situations Shows high energy to get the job done Able to execute without error Someone the manager can count on to manage projects Performs root cause analysis ? puts in corrective actions to avoid a future reoccurrence Demonstrates ownership of assignments Has managed / run a Quarterly Business Review with assigned suppliers MUST have STRONG negotiation skills Worked on cross functional teams for new product introductions Able to manage engineering change orders internally as well as with a supplier Willing to work in a manual Purchase Order environment (paper requisitions, data entry) Understands our business (previous experience with FDA is a plus) (and the other qualities listed in the job description) Note: Please Mention Get Procurement Jobs when applying
